A day after the recapture of the city of Bunagana, on 30 October, a MONUSCO delegation conducted by the Force Commander (FC), General Santos Cruz and FIB Commander James Mwakibolwa went there where they have been welcomed by FARDC Commander General Bahuma and FARDC military spokesman, Olivier Amulli. A large crowd was cheering both FARDC and MONUSCO FIB. The Force Commander and the FIB Commander congratulated the FARDC and the PNC on their tremendous work and courage during the fightings . Then, they walk to the Ugandan border, just few meters away, to mark the reinstallation of the State Authority of in the territory of Rutshuru.
Bunagana is located 95km North east of Goma on the Ugandan border. It was known as the political stronghold of the M23 rebels who have been occupied the area for over a year.
