Horn Of Africa famine

United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said its second airlift has landed in Mogadishu on 29 July, carrying another 14 tons of emergency food desperately needed by thousands of malnourished IDP children. Meanwhile some 10 people were killed in as Somali government forces and the African Union Mission for Somalia (AMISOM) fought against al-Qaeda-inspired insurgent group al-Shabab who are trying to block the flow of food aid. The United Nations estimates some 11 million people in the Horn of Africa region are in need of emergency assistance, while Foreign Minister of Somalia Mohamed Ibrahim warned that more than 3.5 million in Somalis may starve to death.
