Abdul Zanya Salifu, the lead author, is a Ghanaian researcher and PhD candidate at the Department of Geography, University of Calgary, Canada specializing in climate-security risks, violent extremism, and pastoralism in West Africa. /////// Steven Radil, the co-author, is a political geographer at the University of Florida and co-editor of five volumes in the OECD's West African Studies series on the geography of conflict in West Africa (2020-2025). His recent work on the "sovereignty gap" concept examines how armed groups in West Africa contest state authority by attacking networked infrastructure.
