Bashair Ahmed is the Executive Director of Shabaka, a UK based social enterprise supporting diaspora and migrants' engagement in development and humanitarian preparedness. Bashair also submitted her PhD thesis titled: Reasons for Giving Back?: Motivations for Engaging in Transnational Political Activism by Adult Children of Migrants from the Horn of Africa.

Paul Asquith works as Engagement and Policy Manager for the African Foundation for Development (AFFORD UK), a leading UK-based diaspora organisation, and is also a Consultant to Shabaka. He is also a Research Associate at the Centre of African Studies (CAS) at SOAS, University of London, where his research interests include diasporas, migration and development, as well as education and development in North Africa and the Horn of Africa.
