Harry Cross has recently completed a PhD thesis at Durham University examining the history of Sudan’s banking sector after independence. His current research examines economic and financial aspects of Sudan’s current political transition, and the role of external actors in particular. The arguments in this article reflect ongoing reflections that form part of this research project.
