Wangui Kimari is a junior research fellow at the Institute for Humanities in Africa (HUMA) at the University of Cape Town.
Jacob Rasmussen is assistant professor at International Development Studies, Roskilde University, Denmark. He has taught on issues of urbanisation and urban development in Africa. He has conducted ethnographic research in Johannesburg and Nairobi, and has published widely on themes concerning urban politics and grassroots, policing and crime, and service delivery.
Luke Melchiorre is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. His research engages debates that straddle comparative politics, development studies, and historiography, with a regional focus on East Africa. His work has appeared in The Conversation, Mail and Guardian, Democracy in Africa, and the Review of African Political Economy website.
