Matthew Benson is a postdoctoral researcher in the Conflict Research Programme (CRP) at the London School of Economics and Political Science. His research builds on his PhD's research findings and examines how taxes transform understandings of, and relationships to, the state and citizenship in South Sudan and Sudan and other conflict-affected countries. He is the South Sudan Research Director at the CRP.
Raga Makawi is the Editor of Debating Ideas - African Arguments. She is the Sudan Tax Research Programme's project coordinator.
