Mandela Gapara

Mandela Gapala is a former refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo and a U.S. citizen. He oversees statewide refugee resettlement and integration programs in Kentucky and serves on several community boards, including the UNA-USA Kentucky Division, where he co-chairs the Service Committee. He participates in advocacy through the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL). His writing and advocacy focus on humanitarian policy, forced displacement, minority rights and peace in eastern Congo. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a minor in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies from Bellarmine University and is pursuing graduate studies in International Law and Diplomacy at the University for Peace.
